I’m going to make a post either later today or tomorrow but first I want to get your opinions. Do you think the world would be better off without religion?

10) You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god.

9) You feel insulted and ‘dehumanized’ when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8) You laugh at polytheists but you have no problem believing in a trinity god.

7) Your face turns purple when you hear of the atrocities attributed to Allah but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies in Egypt in ‘Exodus’ or ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in ‘Joshua’, including women children and animals.

6) You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women but you have no problem in believing that the holy spirit impregnated Mary who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed came back to life then ascended into the sky.

5) you are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of earth (4.55 billion years) but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded pre historic tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that the earth is a couple generations old.

2) you define 0.01% a ‘high success rate’ when it comes to answered prayers you consider that evidence that prayer works. and you think that the remaining 99.99% failure was simply gods will

Common “myths” about atheists

I just want to do this as my first post because, well, this is the stuff that annoys me the most.

1) Atheists have no morals.

Now, this is the one that bugs me to no friggin end. First humans have morals because we are social beings. I’ve been told that I have no reason to have morals because I don’t have a God to instruct me to do good or punish me when I do bad. God never told me how to be good. My parents did and because I know right from wrong. I don’t hurt people because I know its wrong, not because I’m scared that there’s a god that’s going to punish me. even when I did believe in God (yes, I did believe in god at one point) I wasn’t afraid that I would be punished. I didn’t hurt people because I knew it was wrong and I knew I wouldn’t want someone to do that to me.

2) atheists hate God.

I find this one funny. If I hated God, I would first have to BELIEVE in God. Which I don’t. atheism is the disbelief of a God or Gods. So, I don’t hate God I just don’t believe in God.

3) atheist have no meaning of life.

Just because I don’t believe in God doesn’t mean I don’t have a reason to live. I have my family and friends. to me that’s a good enough reason to live. One day I hope to help people suffering from mental illness. That’s my life goal to help people. That’s a pretty damn good reason to live.

4) Atheists are what’s wrong with this world.

This statement is the dumbest one I’ve ever heard. Just because someone believes in God doesn’t mean they’re a good person. Do you know how many God loving people do bad things? Just look at the catholic church. How many priests have molested little boys in the past 20 years? They’re supposed to be good people but they’re not. I’m pretty sure people who claim to be the most God loving and fearing, then do horrible things are what’s wrong with the world. Not people who don’t believe in God yet go on to do good things, stay out of trouble and never hurt a soul.

so those were just a few “myths” I guess. these are just the ones I’ve heard recently. ill probably do another one of these if I hear more.
